FAQ
What are Soy Candles?
Soy candles are candles made from soy wax, which is a natural and renewable resource derived from soybean oil.
How are soy candles different from paraffin candles?
Soy candles are different from paraffin candles in that they are made from soy wax, a natural material, whereas paraffin candles are made from petroleum-based wax. Soy candles are also known to burn cleaner and produce less soot than paraffin candles.
Are soy candles better for the environment?
Yes, soy candles are considered more environmentally friendly than paraffin candles because soy wax is biodegradable, renewable, and derived from a natural resource.
Do soy candles burn longer than other types of candles?
Soy candles typically burn longer than paraffin candles of the same size due to their lower melting point, which allows for a slower and more even burn.
Do soy candles produce less soot than other candles?
Yes, soy candles produce significantly less soot compared to paraffin candles, making them a cleaner option for indoor use.
What is the white film on my candles and melts?
Frosting is caused by the natural process of soy wax crystallizing. It does NOT impact candle quality. Soy wax is made from soybean oil and is preferred by many candle makers and consumers because it's a renewable resource and burns cleanly. However, one of its characteristics is that it tends to develop this frosting over time. It's usually an indicator that you are ACTUALLY dealing with natural soy.
How can I get the best scent throw from my soy candles?
To maximize scent throw, allow the soy candle to burn long enough for the entire top layer of wax to melt, and trim the wick to ¼ inch before each use.
How do I clean up spilled soy wax?
To clean up spilled soy wax, let it harden and then scrape it off surfaces. Use warm, soapy water to clean any remaining residue.
Can I reuse the container after the soy candle has burned down?
Yes, soy candle containers can often be reused for storing small items, as decorative holders, or for planting small plants after the candle has been used up.
